The recruitment and labour hire sectors keep as closer eye on skill shortages and how they effect employers in Australia as industry does.
61% of employers in Australia are struggling to source qualified job candidates. This is not unique to Australia; globally the situation is very similar. In New Zealand approximately 52% of employers experience the same challenges in finding suitably qualified workers; in Mexico 82% and Costa Rica 93%. Where, if anywhere is the situation less problematic, 19% of Chinese employers and only 17% in Ireland and 9% for Indian employers. USA, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand, Ireland and Peru are all desperate for sales representatives. Germany, Australia, UK, Canada, Spain and France are some of the countries who have skilled trade's workers on top of their wish list... The organisation presenting the quoted statistics revelaed 41% of employers are experiencing challenges in filling vacant positions. the organisation surveyed approximately 37,000 employers across 27 countries, which included 2,486 employers in Australia. Skilled Trade's workers have been, only just, ousted from its first place by sales representatives in the last 24 months. This slight shift is reported to be the result of our comsumer-driven economy where we are now seeing increased consumers demand that is aligned with the resources-driven growth. "Skilled trades shortages in Australia are at the highest levels they have been for five years, the increasing demand, which is now seeing growing pent up demand as many positions remain unfilled long term" Skilled trade's workers refer to a broad range of job titles that require workers to posses specialized skills, traditionally learned over a period of time as an apprentice. Some examples of theses job titles are - electricians, carpenter, cabinet makers, masons/bricklayers, plumbers, welders and boilermakers. What does this tell us? There is no quick fix for these shortages with in, whether the skills are gained traditionally or fast tracked the plan must be part of a long term strategy. Advanced Recruitment is experiencing high levels of succes in filling welder and boilermake posiitions with international candidates. International sourcing of workers is not for everyone, it is essential the sponsoring employer has a finite and complete understanding of the industry and the skills... The success of our international sponsoring program is reflective of our approach to the process-
Advanced Recruitment is continuing to improve their programs and actively pursues new opportunities to contribute to the industry and international workers. Statistics show there are large numbers of employers struggling to fill positions, and these positions remain vacant for much longer than previously. This situation has a negative impact on not only the individual businesses but the industry as a whole. We encourage employers to make contact and discuss their individual requirement. Advanced Recruitment implements a partnership philosophy with host employers and together the results are productive for all concerned.
